Mr. Black reviews Starship Troopers 3: Marauder
Okay, we all loved the first Starship Troopers and we all hated the second one, but how was the 3rd you ask?…….actually, it was very not bad.
The story sees the return of Casper Van Dien this time as a Colonel in command of a small base on a farm planet that gets attacked by the bugs. With him this time around is Jolene Blalock, best known as everyone’s favorite Vulcan supermodel from Star Trek: Enterprise.
This is by no means a big budget flick like the first one was but it definitely had a more cash behind it then the 2nd one had. Its obviously a straight to DVD flick when you are watching it. The story was actually pretty good. If you remember, the first flick was shown as a big propaganda piece in favor of the “Earth Federation” this one does about the same except that you see that not all of the “citizens” are buying the propaganda that the government is spewing.
The story is solid…..(for a straight to DVD flick). The effects arent too bad. and you get to see a bunch of bugs go splat and a lot of marines get skewered by giant arachnids. All in all its a decent rental. (definetly better than Lost Boys: Tribe).
