Andy Samberg Joins SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE in Mystery Role and Two Posters Released

Andy Samberg has joined the voice cast of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse in a mystery role. The news was shared on the Instagram account of his comedy/music group The Lonely Island. Samberg will star alongside fellow Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone, whose casting was announced this past summer.

Taccone is set to play the Renaissance-themed variant of the villain Adrian Toomes/Vulture. There’s no word on who Samberg will portray, but director Joaquim Dos Santos previously teased that the movie includes secret cameos that not even the cast knows about.

One character the director teased was Scarlet Spider, a clone from the comic books. He said: "I can't wait for people to hear who voices him. It still hasn't been released, but I love our Scarlet Spider actor." Maybe it’s Samberg, but it really could be anybody as the movie features 240 characters.

I’ve also got a couple of new posters to share with you!

The film follows Miles Morales as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, “plunged into the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folks to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.”

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”

The cast also includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ dad, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; and Jason Schwartzman as Spot.

The movie is set to be released on June 2nd, 2023!
