SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Includes Secret Cameos The Cast Isn't Even Aware Of

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is going to include a massive amount of characters with over 240 of them running and swinging around across five separate universes. This gave the filmmakers a lot of room to play in regards to voice casting, and it turns out that there are secret cameos in the movie that not even the main cast members know about!

During a recent interview with Total Film, director Joaquim Dos Santos confirmed that Scarlet Spider, a clone from the comic books, will be appearing in the film. He goes on to say: "I can't wait for people to hear who voices him. It still hasn't been released, but I love our Scarlet Spider actor."

When asked to offer a hint on who the actor is, the director shared that it’s so secret that not even the cast knows! He said: "Not even the actors know! Everyone is sworn to secrecy, and they record alone, so most of them are discovering with the public who is in the film they've been making. Their reactions have been pretty hilarious."

The directors go on to say that there are a lot of unexpected appearances in store, and the filmmakers have a couple more months of secrecy ahead. Kemp Powers teases: "My favorite cameo is… a secret! But I promise it's gonna blow your eyeballs out the backside of your head."

This is all so very freakin’ exciting! I’m so stoked for this movie and I have no doubt that the creative team behind it is going to deliver an amazing sequel! I recently watched 14 minutes of the film at CinemaCon and was completely blown away! I also love the footage that I’ve seen from the trailers.

The film follows Miles Morales as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, “plunged into the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folks to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.”

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”

The cast also includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ dad, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; and Jason Schwartzman as Spot.

The movie is set to be released on June 2nd, 2023!
